Contest Rules


Stage 01 – Entry Submission and selection process

In the first stage of the contest, “MY SELANGOR STORY”, 30 Bloggers/Travellers who demonstrates the best quality of writing and video ability will be selected. To apply for selection, this is what you need to do.

1. Register yourself as a candidate by completing the Official MY SELANGOR STORY entry form.
2. Upload an introductory video on YouTube, give a creative 60 seconds introduction of yourself or write a short essay less than 300 words, explaining why you are best qualified as an entrant.
3. Submit your entry before 5th September 2010 (All entries must be received by 23:59, 5th September 2010 GMT +8:00).

Tourism Selangor will organize a committee to select 30 individuals to participate in the MY SELANGOR STORY.

The judging criteria includes:

* Popularity of introductory video with blog readers (50%)
* Personal interest (25%)
* Current blog popularity (25%)

The selected 30 will be announced on 13th September 2010

Upon announcement of the 30 participants, the successful participants are required to place the MY SELANGOR STORY logo and Tourism Selangor logo on their personal blog site.
Stage 02

Travel Period 24th – 27th September 2010

* Tourism Selangor will arrange for the entire tour itinerary, including return flights, meals and lodging. Miscellaneous expenses will be borne by individual participants.
* The 30 selected bloggers will be flown in to Selangor for a 4 day/3 night tour of Selangor from 24th – 27th September 2010.
* During this period, participants will be required to produce a video (up to 3mins) of each day’s activities and upload it every evening together with a travelogue of the activities on to the Tourism Selangor website with a link to YouTube.
* The videos/stories must be produced based on the requirements of Tourism Selangor and be saved as an audio-visual file, with the copyright co-owned by Tourism Selangor, Sponsors/Partners and the entrants.
* Upon completing the itineraries in Selangor, with the required videos and stories uploaded, participants will be awarded with a per diem provided by the organizer and sponsors.

Charity Auction

* Participants will be provided with items in the form of products or vouchers to be auctioned on their individual blog site.
* Proceeds from the auction will be given to Tourism Selangor’s choice of charity organization.

Stage 03 – Judging and Selection of Winners

Blog Voting : 27th September to – 31st October 2010

* Votes from the public will be one of the judging criterions (Note: All entrants must do their best to achieve the best possible Internet exposure for their travelogues and videos)
* Extra points will be awarded if a participant’s video and/or travelogue is shown on their personal blog or other social media sites, such as Facebook, MySpace or added to website links by blog readers.
* All blog readers are eligible to vote for their favourite entry, regardless of nationality.

Final selection of Winner – Tourism Selangor will organize a committee to select the winner of MY SELANGOR STORY. Judging Criteria:

* Creativity (25%)
* Unique and in-depth review, constructive suggestions and viewpoints (30%)
* Quality of Audio-visual uploads (20%)
* Blog popularity (25%)

Winners will be announced in November 2010
